Just added a couple of races to the Niagara Runner directory of Races in Niagara, including one that is only a few days from now.
Sorry for the short notice, but I just found out about it. Turns out the three mile New Year’s Day Fun Run is celebrating its 30th running in St. Catharines this Jan. 1. And I can think of no better way to start the new year off on the right foot than with a brisk run at Henley Island.
There are first, second and third place medals for the fastest male and female runners and the fastest crews (must have four members). There’s also awards for best costume and for the slowest runner.
The event promises an after party with food and drinks as well as draw prizes. Entry fees for preregistration are $25 per person for four to 18 year olds and $30 per person for 19 and older. Online registration closes at 6 p.m. Dec. 30.
Race day registration starts at 1 p.m. and is $30 and $35. The run is a fundraiser organized by the St. Catharines Rowing Club’s lightweight men’s team. Register here and read more about the run on the club’s Facebook page.
The Niagara Falls International Marathon announced recently the 2013 event is scheduled for Oct. 27. The marathon typically took place during the third weekend of October. Registration has not opened yet. Learn more about the marathon here.
