Happy New Year! Last year was another great year and I’m looking forward to the 2014 season. I didn’t quite hit all of my goals from last year so I’ll hopefully be taking care of some unfinished business. But I did taste victory a few times last year, and while I have to say I really like breaking the tape. I’ll be trying to do that a little more often this year too.

I haven’t done every race in Niagara yet, but the ones I’ve done have been awesome and I certainly have my favourites. There’s definitely something for everyone: great races for competitive types. Great experiences for those looking to cross something off their bucket list. And everything in between.
For me, I’m gearing all training and racing early in the season towards the Boston Marathon. Boston will be special this year and I am proud to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to getting the most out of myself during the experience. I expect it to be my best marathon performance to date.
Having said that, I haven’t completely decided on what other races I’m doing next year. I want to do more of the St. Catharines Road Runners Race Series runs, especially the Twelve Mile Creek Half Marathon in early June.
I also loved the Moon in June 10k in Burlington (just down the QEW from Niagara) and am looking forward to that again. Other than that, I pick a few races early in the season that will help me towards my goals for Boston, maybe get into a few of my favourites later in the year, maybe try something new.
